At approximately 18:30, SCP Private Fire Search & Rescue received reports of a house fire at a property along 5th Avenue, Melville.
Our fire crew was dispatched immediately and arrived on scene within minutes. Upon arrival, crews found fire originating from an electrical box in the roof, which had spread towards the geyser area. Flames affected the surrounding section of the property. The situation was brought under control swiftly to prevent further damage and reduce risk to neighboring structures.
The fire was successfully extinguished, and the scene was made safe. The City of Johannesburg Fire Department, and Fire Ops was also on-site and assisted in managing the incident. Preliminary indications suggest the fire was linked to the geyser installation following the electrical box failure.
