On Monday, December 8, 2025, at approximately 22:30, SCP Control Room received a report from an on-duty officer via the group chat stating he had heard a gunshot. Our SCP Security Officer was dispatched to the general area to investigate but, upon arrival, found nothing suspicious during an initial check.

The situation escalated at approximately 23:22 when the SCP Reaction Officer was approached by a client on Cedar Drive. The client reported that he had just been threatened by a suspect who pointed a firearm at him on his property. Our Reaction Officer immediately called for backup and conducted a patrol of the immediate vicinity. During this patrol, he located a suspect lying in the bushes on a neighbouring street.

Another one of our Reaction Officers arrived as backup and a foot chase ensued to the neighboring streets where the suspect unfortunately disappeared
Officers from Fairlands SAPS arrived on scene. They proceeded to take formal statements from the victim on Cedar Drive and from our reaction officer. According to the victim's statement, he was working when he heard his dogs barking. Upon investigation, he observed an unknown male on his property. When the victim approached, the suspect produced a firearm. Fearing for the safety of a family member, the victim retreated, opened the gate with a remote, and the suspect then fled into the neighbourhood, where he was later sighted by the initial reaction officer.

A full lookout for the suspect was circulated to all reaction officers, At approximately 01:10, while statements were being finalized, the SAPS Sergeant on scene received a call stating that a suspect had been apprehended near a local business. Our Reaction Officer and Management responded to that location and confirmed the apprehended individual was the same suspect who had escaped earlier. The suspect was formally arrested by SAPS and was positively identified by the victim.

All necessary statements were then taken from the victim, from the reaction officer regarding the initial recovery of the firearm, and from the other company's officer for the final apprehension. SAPS forensic team processed the recovered evidence, which included one blank firearm with approximately six rounds, one vice grip spanner, one pair of garden scissors, one pair of gloves, one cellphone, two screwdrivers, one pair of trainers, one backpack, one tube of toothpaste, and one can of tuna fish. The team photographed and fingerprinted all items before they were secured as evidence.
