🚨 HOUSE FIRE – ALBERTSKROON 🚨

At approximately 02:06am on Friday, 12 December 2025, we received an alert from our community group about a house fire at the corner of 4th Street and 8th Street in Albertskroon. SCP Private Fire Search & Rescue was dispatched immediately and arrived within minutes.
On arrival, crews found the garage of a property along 8th Street burning, and a white bakkie parked in front of the garage had also caught fire. The flames around the vehicle were contained before they could spread further.
Our team acted quickly to extinguish the fire in the garage so that an investigation could take place. CoJ EMS was notified and later arrived on scene to assist. Fire officials established that the blaze was caused by an electrical fault from a switch in the garage. Thanks to the rapid response from our team, the fire was contained before causing further damage to the rest of the property.
We commend our fire crew for their swift, professional and effective actions.
To help prevent similar incidents, homeowners are encouraged to take simple safety steps.
🔷 Ensure all electrical switches and outlets are checked regularly for faults or loose wiring.
🔷 Avoid overloading plug points and keep garage electrical connections properly insulated.
🔷 Switch off non-essential electrical appliances before going to bed or leaving the property.
🔷 Report any unusual electrical smells, sparks or flickering lights immediately, as these can be early signs of electrical failure.
